Lattice Technology® Announces iXVL Publisher 3.0 Enabling Manufactures to Create Product Documents for Mobile Apple® Devices

—New Version Includes Animations and Templates for Creating 3D, Interactive, Intelligent Mobile Documents—

San Francisco, May 7, 2013—Lattice Technology, Inc., an industry leader of technical communication and digital mock up software for the manufacturing industry, today announced the availability of  iXVL Publisher version 3.0. This latest version adds templates and animation capabilities to the product, providing even greater functionality and efficiency for companies who strive to leverage 3D product data across their extended enterprise.

Lattice Technology’s iXVL Publisher is a Windows® application for creating 3D intelligent documents that can be linked to part/assembly data, production information and work instructions. The resulting interactive product document can then be easily accessed on mobile devices, such as the iPad® or iPhone®

iXVL Publisher v3.0 includes animation and templates–capabilities that improve comprehension of data and save time. The animation feature allows mobile users to see assembly, disassembly and service procedures in action. The pre-defined templates for work instructions and part lists enable fast and easy creation of these intelligent documents.

Manufacturing companies use iXVL Publisher for creating documents with 3D geometry linked to part/assembly data, production information and work instructions. Examples of part/assembly data include BOMs, metadata from the CAD system and other information authored in the Lattice Technology environment such as notes, measurements, and 3D interactive snapshots.  Production information may contain tooling, fixture and human interaction. Work instructions are detailed step-by-step procedures for anything from assembly to quality assurance to service.

“The world is going mobile. Support of mobile consumption of 3D intelligent documents containing product data is crucial to our mission of making XVL® the backbone for sharing complex product data,” explained Bill Barnes, General Manager, Lattice Technology, Inc. “Our commitment to manufacturing companies is to make full function viewers available at no charge with a variety of options which include Apple Inc.’s mobile devices, Microsoft® Excel® and a Windows app. Using our products, manufacturing organizations can make their data available to the right people at the right time, giving stakeholders a number of options for consuming product data.”

Ultrafast viewing on mobile devices is accomplished by the lightweight model representation of XVL. Using XVL, file sizes are typically less than one percent of the original CAD model–while still maintaining model accuracy. Anyone with the free iXVL Player app from the Apple App Store SM may consume these 3D documents.
