OPEN MIND Presentation at AMCon Denver Show

April 23, 2013 - OPEN MIND Technologies USA, Inc. and dealer CAD/CAM Systems LLC will be presenting hyperMILL CAM Software at the Denver AMCon show on May 1 and 2.  This is a very popular show in the Denver and Rocky Mountain area.

In addition to presenting the software and having product experts available in Booth 304, OPEN MIND and CAD/CAM Systems will be providing a Technology Seminar that is free to attendees.  The presentation will be entitled 2.5 to 5-Axis Machining – hyperMILL® Innovations.  A brief abstract is below:

CAM Software Products create toolpaths to produce moulds, tooling, and prototype and serial production components using digitally controlled machine tools.  Customer feedback to CAM software companies drives development toward common practices and competitive software have a certain sameness in many cases.  In fact, many CAM software companies license software modules and toolkits from third party suppliers that further reduce differentiation between CAM software products.  OPEN MIND Technologies and CAD/CAM Systems will present a series of innovations in hyperMILL®  CAM software that make a meaningful difference to manufacturers.  The innovations are presented in technology levels ranging from 2-axis through 5-axis.  Attendees will leave the seminar with many ideas that will impact their productivity

One example is an extension of hyperMILL’s renowned 5-axis drilling technique.  For many years, hyperMILL has been able to program multiple holes on multiple orientations by determining hole orientations automatically, and then by utilizing available controller commands to both use canned cycle commands at any orientation, and also to provide a smooth and safe connection between adjacent holes.  This compares to other techniques that continually move the cutter to a security plane before positioning to the next hole.  The recent enhancement in hyperMILL is to connect the adjacent holes with a graceful arcing motion, available in 2-axis or multi-axis, and that includes full collision control.  These motions are much easier on machine controllers by staying in G1 moves and avoiding sudden axis directional changes.

Many other innovations have been and are being added to hyperMILL to address standard machining practices with finesse and better machining results.
