GEO-South Preparations Take Pace

April 11, 2013 -- With less a month to go before GEO-South opens its doors in London for what is set to be another hugely successful geospatial event the organisers have announced the programme for two days of informative, topical and stimulating seminars and debates. Headline topics will include Building Information Modelling (BIM), Open Data as well as new technology for data capture including UAVs and handheld laser scanners. Gareth Chilcott, former England capped rugby union player and well known television commentator, will be the after-dinner speaker at the GEO-South Gala Evening. Good food and good wine will be followed by good fun with ‘Cooch’ regaling the audience with tales from the world of rugby, stage and screen.

GEO-South will take place on the 1-2 May 2013 at the Holiday Inn, Elstree and online registration is open at www.pvpubs.com/Events/Registration. Geo-South is free to attend and preregistered delegates can benefit from free onsite parking, free refreshments during the course of the event and priority seminar seating.

The two day programme of events will kick off with a keynote from Bob McEwan, HP’s (Hewlett Packard) Presales Manager and Chief Technologist for UK and Ireland, who will regale the audience with technological insights from the past, complete with props, and his own inimitable look into the future. Dr Robert Barr, Visiting Professor at the University of Liverpool, Council Member of the Association for Geographic Information and Councillor for Warrington Borough Council, will present a lively debate on Open Data while Mark Workman of Leica Geosystems will explore monitoring solutions.

These sessions complement an already packed seminar programme which includes topics such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), the next generation of airborne sensors, education and training for GIS as well as geodata solutions for highways management. Other speakers include Dr Anne Kemp, Technical Director at Atkins Global, Chris Little an experienced trainer and educator as well as Andrew Blogg, Director at Digital Mapping & Survey. Brecht Lonneville of Gatewing, Peter Taylor of Spheron, Richard Groombridge of GeoPlace, James Kavanagh of RICS, Chris Wood of 3D Laser Mapping and Colin Tickle of Drilline will also present.
