Optech announces new CS-6500 aerial digital camera

Toronto, Canada, March 26, 2013 — Optech, the world leader in the development, manufacture and support of advanced lidar and camera survey instruments, is pleased to announce the release of its new CS-6500 aerial camera system.  A direct advance from the Optech CS-4800 camera, the CS-6500 inherits the CS-4800’s robust and proven design while providing enhancements and new features. As a result, the CS-6500 is a highly efficient camera that offers a fast cycle time, an electronic shutter, panchromatic or color CCD sensors, interchangeable lenses, and a metric-quality data set.

The CS-6500’s new 29-Mpix interline CCD increases the camera's operational window, makes data collection 80% more efficient, and reduces readout leakage output—enabling operators to gather high-quality imagery even faster than before. The camera also features simplified operations, high versatility, and a large 6500×4300 pixel footprint that enables integration with Optech’s ALTM lidar sensors and CS-series of thermal and multispectral cameras, helping users to step forward into multi-sensor data collection. These qualities also make the CS-6500 the right camera for entry-level users who are looking for photogrammetric accuracy, reliability and straightforward operation.

“The CS-6500 will help Optech to pursue its strategy of sensor integration through a single workflow,” says Julien Losseau, Camera System Product Manager for Optech. “The new interline CCD sensor, along with the wide range of lenses that can be used with the CS-6500, make it the perfect device for multiple sensor platforms, whether it's in standalone mode or combined with our ALTM products.”

The CS-6500 will be available in Q2 2013.
