Established in 1899 by the Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King Franz Joseph I, Brno University was the first Czech higher education institution in Moravia. The university's 24,000 students are enrolled in eight disciplines ranging from engineering and business to professional and fine arts programs. In the Mechanical Engineering area, they offer bachelors programs in engineering; masters programs in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied Sciences of Engineering, and Production Systems; and six doctoral programs.
