Geosyntec Enhances OptiRTC Monitoring, Control Software with Groundswell Visualization Services

ATLANTA, Feb. 19, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — Geosyntec Consultants has executed a strategic teaming agreement with Groundswell Technologies Inc., a global leader in automated earth monitoring software solutions, allowing Geosyntec to enhance its real-time monitoring and control software platform OptiRTC with 2D visualization capabilities.

Groundswell's geospatial software platform offers users environmental modeling and decision-support capabilities at engineering project sites. Its 2D spatial visualization solution will be used to support Geosyntec's OptiRTC platform, a broad suite of computing services that provide data monitoring and automated control solutions for groundwater remediation sites, water resource monitoring systems, and advanced green infrastructure facilities.

This enhanced 2D data aids Geosyntec practitioners as they seek to identify geospatial data patterns, optimize the performance of best management practices, and design environmental remediation solutions at project sites.

"OptiRTC Powered by Groundswell is of particular relevance to Geosyntec's water resources, groundwater, and geoengineering practice professionals and their data monitoring, analysis, and visualization projects for clients throughout North America and Europe," said Marcus Quigley, P.E., CPESC, a principal civil and environmental engineer based in Massachusetts.

"Adding 2D visualization to OptiRTC's suite of services immediately enhances a number of our environmental remediation projects," Mr. Quigley said. "One of the key differentiators of OptiRTC is its ability to monitor and control distributed systems in real-time. Because of this distribution, geo-referenced visualization with Groundswell enables users to view trends over an entire geographic range, rather than just at specific monitoring points."

This enables users to create "virtual wells" in which data is modeled as a time series for any location within the geographic bounds of the data. With this capability, OptiRTC can offer a cloud-based grid of virtual sensors at almost any field site. It will display trends over space and time for data such as contaminant concentrations in a groundwater plume or the hydraulic gradients of groundwater flow between monitoring wells.
