Granta announces new integration with ANSYS software

GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway enables simulation engineers to access and apply approved CAE materials models, saving time and ensuring data traceability

Cambridge, UK - Oct 24, 2012 - Granta Design, the materials information technology experts, today announced a new software product to provide vital materials data for simulation engineers, developed through Granta's partnership with ANSYS, Inc. The new GRANTA MI:Materials Gateway(tm) for ANSYS(r) Workbench(tm) enables validated materials property models to be quickly and consistently accessed and applied from within ANSYS software, providing full traceability of the materials inputs to simulations.

Engineers and designers need quick and reliable access to a wide range of complex materials information and models for use in their design simulations. Working with some of the world's top engineering enterprises, Granta has developed GRANTA MI(tm), a powerful system to capture, analyze, and manage all of a company's corporate materials data - for example, from testing, R&D, or previous design experience. This data is complemented by Granta's unrivalled catalog of materials property reference data, which covers metals, plastics, ceramics, composite materials, and more. With the new MI:Materials Gateway any authorized ANSYS Workbench user can browse and search the whole of this invaluable information resource within their routine workflows. They can then select approved CAE models and apply them directly to their simulation projects.

"Our customers regularly tell us that the right materials property data and models are critical to the accuracy of simulations," said Barry Christensen, director of product management, ANSYS. "Since finding this information can consume valuable time, this integration product from Granta Design provides the information quickly, reliably, and directly within projects' simulation workflow in ANSYS Workbench. Furthermore, the software illustrates the openness of the ANSYS Workbench framework to extend and support third-party applications that are critical to users solving challenging engineering problems."

"We are delighted to be working with ANSYS to support their wide user-base of engineers and analysts," concluded Granta's Chief Operating Officer, Dr Patrick Coulter. "We have a longstanding partnership between our companies, and this new integration product provides the latest tools and data to save time, ensure consistency, and provide high confidence in simulation results."
