AVEVA is Star Sapphire sponsor at the 10th Anniversary CHOA Conference

‘Crossing the Information Chasm’ from engineering to operations - ‘Be Operational Ready!’

Calgary , AB, Canada - 16 October 2012: AVEVA today announced that it is a Star Sapphire sponsor of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA) Fall Business Conference 2012. As a key sponsor and exhibitor, AVEVA will be promoting ’Crossing the Information Chasm’ which describes how AVEVA helps Owner Operators (OOs) cross the chasm from engineering to operations.

“Populating an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system with relevant and correct operational information based on continually changing engineering data is very labour intensive and costly” said William Muldoon, Executive Vice President- North America, AVEVA. “The OO community faces many challenges in overcoming this. At CHOA we will explain how OOs can ‘Cross the Information Chasm’ using AVEVA technology to collect, visualise and validate engineering data, loading correct information directly into an EAM tool of their choice.

“Our message at CHOA is ‘Be Operational Ready!’ for first oil. We want to encourage OOs to manage their information from the outset and not wait until years after start-up to catch up. Crossing this information chasm is essential for efficient plant operations. Customers are constantly telling us how important it is to improve information quality, especially as it relates to Health & Safety procedures. And our technology is helping them to meet their ambitious goals for operational excellence.”

The CHOA 2012 Fall Business Conference is being held on October 25-26 at the Palomino Room, BMO Centre – Stampede Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It will draw over 500 delegates and include a diverse line-up of speakers and industry experts who will showcase the latest developments and events in the business of heavy oil production, transportation, marketing and utilization in North America.

AVEVA will be exhibiting in the main exhibitor area in the Palomino Foyer.

About CHOA

The Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA) is a multi-discipline, volunteer-based, not-for-profit association focused on heavy oil and oil sands projects and developments. The organization evolved around the sharing of information and technical knowledge about the heavy oil and oil sands industry in an informal networking environment. Since its inception approximately 24 years ago, this volunteer-based not-for-profit association has grown to almost 1700 members. Today CHOA is a hub for the Canadian heavy oil and oil sands, and likely is the largest association in the world dedicated solely to the heavy oil industry.
