Fishidy.com Goes Mobile: Map-based Web Site Releases Free Mobile Fishing App

October 08, 2012 -- (Harrisburg, Pa.) Fishidy.com, a map-based social network for anglers, has released a new mobile fishing app to supplement the web-based platform. Fishidy.com is owned by Outdoor InSite, LLC, a joint venture between GeoDecisions and Fishing HotSpots®.

GeoDecisions, an information technology (IT) company specializing in geospatial solutions, led the design and development of the Fishidy.com mobile app. The new mobile app adds to the convenience of Fishidy by allowing users to access their online profiles, including interactive fishing and waterway maps and a personal fishing log, through mobile iOS devices (iPhone® and iPad®).

As a leader in the enterprise geospatial industry, GeoDecisions is committed to continually pushing the limits of technology. “Fishidy.com and the new mobile app is the direct result of what happens when innovation and talent meet head-on.” said Brendan Wesdock, president of GeoDecisions. “Fishidy is not just another project to GeoDecisions. It’s an avenue to showcase our gifted staff and develop truly original location-based applications.”

Fishidy.com and its new mobile app is the first-ever app resource for anglers to include detailed fishing maps and information powered by Fishing HotSpots, a trusted name in the fishing industry. Its interactive maps are loaded with valuable data for more than 4,000 waterways nationwide. Anglers can mark, track, and view catches with a personal and secure fishing log that connects directly to their online profile.

The Fishidy.com mobile app includes real-time global positioning system (GPS) coordinates and weather, and it allows anglers to upload fishing photos from their mobile device to their Fishidy.com profile. The app utilizes Esri®’s ArcGIS® Server and iOS SDK technology to support the mapping and geospatial capabilities. The Fishidy.com mobile app is freely available on the iTunes® store.

“It’s a natural fit for us to have a mobile app for Fishidy.com,” said Brian Jensen, a director of GeoDecisions and president of Fishidy.com. “Our site allows anglers the chance to eliminate unproductive time on the water through detailed fishing maps and tools to help track and log patterns and experiences. The mobile app is a supplement to the site that can be used while you’re on the water to ensure accuracy and more fish in the boat.”

GeoDecisions’ experienced staff of professional consultants, analysts, and developers support clients worldwide.
