MSC Software Announces a New Fatigue Materials Testing Service

SANTA ANA, CA--(Business Wire – September 11th, 2012) MSC Software Corporation  today announced that in collaboration with HBM-nCode Products, the company is offering a new fatigue materials testing service that delivers Stress- Life and Strain-Life materials data sets as well as more advanced bespoke testing services. Accurate material properties are a key element of Virtual Product Design where durability and reliability are the design drivers. For more than 20 years, MSC Software has been at the leading edge of fatigue and durability analysis with the MSC Fatigue software. MSC Software’s simulation tools, together with this new testing service, now represent the most advanced capabilities available today.

Inappropriate or low quality material properties and inadequate loading specifications are the two most common contributors to poor fatigue design and analysis results when performing virtual fatigue simulation. However, material properties can be characterized properly with the right testing procedures. This new services offering will enable customers to improve their durability predictions by providing more accurate material data .

The Fatigue Materials Testing Service includes:

  • Quality Assurance Testing
  • Strain-Life Fatigue Test Data Curve Production
  • Bespoke Fatigue Testing
  • Test Coupon Production

MSC Software and HBM-nCode are best positioned to help product manufacturers with fatigue and durability challenges due to HBM-nCode’s worldwide leadership in fatigue technology and MSC Software’s leadership in analysis and simulation software and services. This blend of expertise and experience is the perfect vehicle through which to offer the new material testing service.

“A high percentage of design operating failures and warranty costs are due to fatigue life issues,” said Bert Knops, Vice President of Global Services at MSC Software. “We are eager to continue expanding our portfolio of advanced fatigue analyses and services. The ability to accurately determine the material data required for such analyses by means of materials testing is integral to helping customers improve the quality of their products.”
