lynda.com Releases Adobe Car Photography Workshop Course

Photography tips and hands-on Photoshop CS6 training from Adobe senior product manager

CARPINTERIA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 19, 2012lynda.com, the award-winning online learning company, announced the release of a new course featuring guidelines for photographing cars taught by Adobe Photoshop senior product manager Bryan O’Neil Hughes. The course, Photo Workshop: Car Photography Tips, is a summation of a workshop hosted by lynda.com and Adobe Systems Incorporated on May 5, 2012. Over 130 participants spent a day with Hughes at the lynda.com Southern California campus photographing rare cars and learning how to perfect their shots with Adobe® Photoshop® CS6.

“lynda.com is committed to providing the most relevant and in-depth course content online, and this one-of-a-kind workshop is an example of how we hope to inspire our members,” said Lynda Weinman, cofounder and executive chair of lynda.com. “Bryan’s course, which draws upon his expertise in both photography and Photoshop, is an excellent addition to our growing library of over 500 courses on Adobe software.”

Hughes, who is a photographer and car buff, takes photos and shares his advice for photographing cars, shows how to evaluate the lines of the vehicle, and explains how to compose shots for the greatest dramatic effect. lynda.com staged professional studio lighting for the workshop in three separate spaces—a cleared-out warehouse, an outdoor setup, and a professional studio in its newly redesigned production center.

”As if the cool spaces lynda.com provided weren’t enough, Bruce Heavin, lynda.com cofounder and chief creative officer, just happened to have a Mercedes SLS AMG for us to shoot, and one of his employees had an equally rare BMW 135M,” said Hughes. “They also used a white infinity edge, curved backdrop to showcase an Aprilia motorcycle in another studio. It was heaven for car enthusiasts … me included!”

In the second part of the course, Hughes guides the workshop’s attendees through his Adobe® Lightroom® and Photoshop workflow, and shares how to take advantage of the features in Photoshop CS6, such as the revamped Crop tool, the Iris Blur and Tilt-Shift filters, the Content-Aware Move tool, and its video editing tools.
