Curtin University in Western Australia Joins Bentley Institute’s Academic Subscription Program

Students and Researchers Gain Access to Commercial-grade
Software for Sustaining Infrastructure

PERTH, Australia – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that Curtin University has joined Bentley Institute’s Academic Subscription program, offered through its Be Careers Network, for a three-year term. The announcement was made at a special ceremony held here on the school’s main campus. Among those in attendance were Ian Callahan, Curtin University vice president, Corporate Services, and George Church, Bentley senior vice president. In addition, representatives from the following organizations made presentations on their respective use of Bentley software in sustaining infrastructure: Aurecon, FAST - Fluor SKM Iron Ore Joint Venture, Ausenco, Western Power, WorleyParsons, the Department of Environment and Conservation (Western Australia), Main Roads Western Australia, and Hatch. The subscription grants students, researchers, and faculty at Curtin campuses worldwide unlimited access to more than 50 of Bentley’s commercial-grade software applications for designing, building, and operating infrastructure.

The applications can be used on all campus computers as well as on student and faculty PCs. The program also provides a variety of learning resources, including manuals, textbooks, hands-on live training, and on-demand self-study offered through the Bentley LEARN Server, along with opportunities for scholarships. The school’s new Academic Subscription will help Curtin students graduate with the technology skills they need to start careers as infrastructure professionals.

Ian Callahan said, “This is a strategic addition to developing Curtin’s information and communications technology initiatives. With seamless access to Bentley software, our students will graduate with the strong skills and knowledge that their prospective employers need to establish or maintain leadership in the design, development, maintenance, and operation of built assets around the world.”

He continued, “A distinctive feature of this program is the provision of anywhere, anytime access to Bentley’s learning materials for students and staff through Curtin’s online portal OASIS. This learning opportunity, which is made possible by Bentley Institute’s innovative OnDemand offerings, cements the university’s position as a leader in the adoption of digital learning technologies.”

George Church said, “We are very pleased that Curtin University is starting its students on Bentley Institute’s continuous learning path. Going from the secondary and college or university experience through professional practice, this path is lifelong, with learning empowered by innovative offerings developed with input from educators and infrastructure professionals, and delivered on demand to meet immediate workflow needs. On behalf of all my Bentley colleagues, I welcome Curtin University to our Be Careers Network program and thank its entire staff for their important contributions to sustaining the infrastructure professions!”
