Registration Now Open for the 2012 URISA/NENA Addressing Conference

Des Plaines, IL (May 10, 2012)    URISA   and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) are pleased   to announce that registration has opened for the 2012 Addressing Conference taking place August 6-9 at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee.

Early registration discounts are available until July 9 with added savings for URISA, NENA and NAPSG members. Exhibit and sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Important preconference courses and workshops will be featured on Monday, August 6:

  • GIS & NG9-1-1 for the PSAP - This NENA course explains how and why GIS must be reconciled and synchronized with existing ALI and MSAG records and what PSAPs will need to do with their existing data to prepare for NG9-1-1.

  • Building an Address Repository Using the FGDC Standard:  Implementing Quality and Data Sharing - The URISA Addressing Workshop has been substantially updated this year to include a more comprehensive guide to working with the recently adopted FGDC Address Data Standard.  Attendees will learn about the FGDC Address Data Standard, and how building an enterprise address repository using the Standard will improve address data quality and enable sharing of address data with other jurisdictions, state and federal agencies and the public.

  • Public Data, Public Access, Privacy, and Security: U.S. Law and Policy - As data distribution capacities increase, there is increasing tension between access to public records as a foundation of a free society, citizen expectations of confidentiality, and protection of public security. This URISA Certified Workshop will focus on the critical legal issues and the policy options they frame.

Tim Trainor, from the U.S. Census Bureau, will deliver the opening keynote address: A Census Bureau and Local Collaborative Addressing Effort - The Importance of Local Address Lists.

The conference committee has organized the program into three tracks: Addressing, Next Generation 9-1-1 and Collaboration. Here is just a sampling of some of the important sessions on the schedule:

  • The Address Standard, Year One
  • Getting Ready for NG9-1-1
  • Building the Arkansas Master Address Program
  • Collaborating, Coordinating, and Maintaining Authoritative Addressing Data - Local to Statewide
  • Engaging Local Stakeholders Contributes to Success
