Vectren Deploys SPANS Joint Use Notification System

April 09, 2012 -- Wind Lake Solutions, Inc., (WLS), Mukwonago, Wisconsin, is pleased to announce that Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana has deployed WLS’ SPANS™ (Spatially-enabled Permitting and Notification System).  SPANS is a hosted web-based solution designed to electronically and centrally manage inter-company communications associated with joint use pole attachment projects.

Under subscription by a major communications company, SPANS has been in use in Indiana since late 2010.  WLS completed configuration changes required to support Vectren’s full and unlimited use of SPANS pole attachment management and communication functionality in late 2011.  Vectren completed its testing of the system in January and user training in February.

Marty Frederick, Joint Use Manager, stated “With SPANS we can continue to improve the effectiveness of our joint use pole attachment management program.  We believe that both Vectren and the communications and CATV companies that depend on our poles will gain significant efficiencies through SPANS use.  Most importantly, we’re confident that SPANS will allow us to more effectively work with our joint use partners in assuring the continued safety and reliability of our overhead distribution network.”

Susan Smith-Lee, Principal of Wind Lake Solutions said, “WLS is delighted that SPANS will be an important component of Vectren’s joint use management program and pleased to add an important power company subscriber in Indiana.”
