Annual PLM conference will be held May 15-17 in Detroit
TROY, Mich., April 5, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — During the 2012 Americas HyperWorks Technology Conference (HTC2012), Altair Engineering, Inc. will bring aerospace to the forefront of its agenda and underscore the significant impact of technology on the evolution of the industry. Veteran astronaut T.K. Mattingly will deliver one of the event's most anticipated keynote addresses, followed by several aerospace-focused sessions that will concentrate on industry-wide advanced technology application. As one of the premier product lifecycle management (PLM) events for the advanced manufacturing community, HTC2012 will be held May 15-17 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center and is expected to draw more than 600 professionals, many from the aerospace industry's leading manufacturers.
The conference will commence with insights from T.K. Mattingly, veteran Apollo program and shuttle astronaut, who will present the first keynote address and provide attendees a glimpse into the progress that advancements in simulation have sparked in aerospace.
"During my time in both the space program and in the private sector, I have witnessed firsthand the ways that the aerospace industry has adapted and advanced through the application of simulation technology and intelligence," said Mattingly. "I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to share my experiences and insights during the HTC among some of the most knowledgeable engineers in the industry, who are leading this continued innovation."
Several aerospace-focused presentations and case studies will be introduced at the conference by industry experts from Altair ProductDesign, AAI, ATK, Boeing, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, who will discuss:
- Concept design optimization, lightweighting and composites
- Parts optimization for use in ambient and cryogenic conditions
- Altair ProductDesign's development of custom automation for rapid modeling
- Benefits and best practices learned through the establishment of onsite optimization centers
- Finite-element modeling and crash testing for performance and design insights
- Energy-absorption design for reducing safety-device-related injuries in crash conditions
"The presentations slated for the HTC concentrate on many of the critical issues experienced now by manufacturers across the industry and the ways we are implementing advanced simulation to address them," said Robert Yancey, Altair senior director of global aerospace and marine. "We expect these presentations will provide a valuable platform for aerospace executives to discuss and see firsthand how our customers are using HyperWorks to develop new designs and make the engineering and analysis process more efficient, driving innovation, efficiency and productivity."
As Altair strives to bring great technology forward with its design and domain expertise, the 2012 HTC will encompass simulation, predictive analytics, optimization, high-performance computing and cloud architectures to help users make better engineering and business decisions. The centerpiece attractions of HTC events worldwide are the customer experience stories describing the various real-life scenarios and successes of using HyperWorks, Altair's simulation software suite. HyperWorks includes tools for modeling, analysis, visualization and data management capabilities for linear and non-linear, structural optimization, fluid-structure interaction, computational fluid dynamics and multi-body dynamics applications.
