Brian Raber Selected to Fill Vacancy on MAPPS Board of Directors

March 12, 2012 -- Richard W. "Dick” McDonald, CP, PLS, (T3 Global Technologies, Bridgeville, PA), the President of MAPPS, has announced the selection of Brian R. Raber CMS, GISP, GLS, of Merrick & Company, Aurora, CO to the position of director on the MAPPS Board of Directors.

Mr. Raber was elected unanimously by the MAPPS Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr. James Page from the James W. Sewall Company, Old Town, Maine, who became Chancellor of the University of Maine System.

Mr. Raber has served as a member of MAPPS Legislative Affairs Committee which advises the MAPPS Board on legislative and policy issues affecting the profession. He also served as a member of the MAPPS Excellence Awards Committee which reviewed the competition’s implementation and has been an advocate for the membership’s participation in the program. He has also been an active volunteer on a number of committees and as a speaker and participant at MAPPS conferences.

"Brian stood out among the exceptional candidates considered by the MAPPS Board to fill a vacancy,” said McDonald. "His commitment as an active participant in MAPPS and the support of his firm were positive attributes that led to his selection.”

Mr. Raber serves as Vice President for GeoSpatial Solutions at Merrick & Company where he has been employed for 21 years. He earned a bachelor degree in Cartography and Geography at West Virginia University and a master degree in the same discipline at the University of Idaho. He serves as a member of the West Virginia University Board of Visitors.

Pursuant to the MAPPS bylaws, Mr. Raber was selected by the other members of the MAPPS Board to serve as a director until the next business meeting of the association, to be held at the MAPPS Summer Conference in Snowmass/Aspen, CO on July 10-14, 2012.
