FLIPP to Release New Version of the Calgary Pathway Map App, Helping Calgary Cyclists Reach Thousands of Kilometres of Additional Paths

CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 28, 2012 -- Editors Note: There is a photo associated with this press release.

FLIPP Advertising Inc. is thrilled to announce the launch of the all new Version 2.0 of the Bike YYC App, a Calgary bike path map for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The new version means that finding your way around Calgary's pathways just got a whole lot easier. The well received first version of the app was released as a free download on the app store last August and racked up over 2000 downloads in the first month.

FLIPP has completely redeveloped the app to include thousands of kilometres of additional paths by utilizing bike friendly maps from OpenStreetMap.org. The second version also now features A to B routing, allowing you to find your way from 'here' to 'there' using the city's network of pathways. Pathway closures are kept up to date from Calgary.ca and a detailed pathway legend shows specific pathway features including landmarks such as Cycle Parking, Public Toilets, LRT Stations and Bike Shops.

Version 2.0 of the Bike YYC App will remain a free download with thanks to some of the city's top community developers. Hopewell Communities, Genstar Developments, East Village ( CMLC ) and Walton Development Management have all contributed in part to this new version. The combined contributor list has supplied Calgary with thousands of pathways and their support of Bike YYC 2.0 is commendable. "We would really like to thank our contributors on behalf of Calgary. Their vision and commitment to community has helped to bring Bike YYC to the next level and we're proud to have them behind it", says Emily McCann, Principal of FLIPP Advertising Inc.

Bike YYC Version 2.0 is set to launch March 2 as a free download in the App Store. If you've already downloaded the first version of Bike YYC, the update will be sent to you through the App Store.

FLIPP has exciting plans for the App including versions for major Canadian cities also set to launch Spring 2012. For more information on Bike YYC, advertising opportunities and information on upcoming pathway apps from FLIPP, email Email Contact or call 403.720.2007.
