Georgia Technology Authority Chooses BroadMap and One Economy for Broadband Mapping Program

February 15, 2011 --  Lebanon, NH: BroadMap and One Economy announced they have been selected following a competitive bid process to collect, integrate and verify the availability, speed and location of high-speed Internet access across the State of Georgia. These efforts are part of Year 3 of a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration under the State Broadband Initiative grant program.

BroadMap and One Economy will provide services to Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) to gather broadband data twice a year to update Georgia’s searchable online map ( www.georgiabroadband.net) and the NTIA’s National Broadband Map ( www.broadbandmap.gov).

“Georgia is deeply committed to providing accurate broadband service information and we are proud to assist the GTA with the broadband data collection, verification and mapping,” said Daniel Perrone, chief executive officer at BroadMap.

Georgia is also working with BroadMap and One Economy to improve and update the State’s broadband map to allow residents to more easily understand their broadband service options. “Broadband is essential to strengthening Georgia’s economy,” said David Saunier, president of One Economy Corporation. “This team will provide the information needed to improve existing broadband service and expand broadband opportunities throughout the State.”

Rich Calhoun, program director at Georgia Technology Authority, said, “Collaboration and data driven decision making are the key ingredients to Georgia's broadband success. The GTA looks forward to continued excellence from BroadMap and One Economy."
