HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering Corporation Chooses Bentley's ProjectWise Project Team Collaboration Platform

Anticipates Savings of 20 Percent or More through its Enhanced Ability to Readily Find, Manage, and Share Engineering Content

Beijing - Jan. 18, 2012 - Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering Corporation has chosen the ProjectWise platform, along with Bentley Navigator, for its project team collaboration and work-sharing needs. The company purchased the software through a value-creative Bentley SELECT subscription and will also be using Bentley's professional training services. Through its use of ProjectWise, HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering anticipates savings of 20 percent or more from increased productivity stemming from its enhanced ability to find, manage, and share engineering content - everything from information modeling files in multiple formats to Microsoft Office documents and more.

HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering is one of the leading investigation and design organizations in China concentrating on the generation of energy from renewable resources. Its areas of expertise include the research, consulting, investigation and design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and project management and supervision of domestic and international hydro power, wind power, solar power, and other clean energy projects.

Zhang Zongliang, HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering Corporation vice president, general engineer, and a national engineering design master, said, "Prior to our deployment of ProjectWise we faced significant challenges in establishing streamlined collaborative workflows for our large, interdisciplinary project teams distributed across China as well as other parts of the world. We use a number of design and engineering software applications and found it extremely difficult to effectively and efficiently share project information across all project disciplines and stakeholders. Now, with our use of ProjectWise, we anticipate substantial time and cost savings through this software's interoperability with multiple file formats, federated approach to design and engineering content management, and ability to facilitate web-based publishing of design content."

HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering is currently using ProjectWise and Bentley Navigator in three of its hydro power projects in Yunnan province, China. The total number of users among its project teams in these initial deployments is between 150 and 200.

Christopher Liew, Bentley vice president, Greater China, said, "We are extremely pleased to welcome HYDROCHINA Kunming Engineering to Bentley's global community of users. The company is using Bentley's ProjectWise Integration Server and Bentley Navigator for project review and analysis to help it expand the supply of electrical power in southwest China. We look forward to serving the company's complete information modeling needs through our comprehensive portfolio of robust software for sustaining infrastructure and, in doing so, help it support China's continued economic development."
