SolidWorks and OPEN MIND Webinar: CAD/CAM Slam featuring hyperMILL® for SolidWorks® Case Study with Fifth Axis Fixtures

October 13, 2011 - SolidWorks will continue its CAD/CAM Slam series of webinars with Gold CAM partners.  The next presentation will be October 19 at 2 PM EDT and features OPEN MIND Technologies hyperMILL for SolidWorks.  You can register here.

The presentation clearly demonstrates the benefits to work processes by using integrated CAD/CAM solutions, including working directly with the SolidWorks database, working “in-window” with SolidWorks, and of course with perfect quality used in the CAM model.  Additionally, many of the unique characteristics of hyperMILL will be explained so that prospects can see the potential to address various challenges that they face each day.

OPEN MIND will present its robust CAM software that has strong solutions from 2.5 axis to 5-axis and also with mill-turn capability.  hyperMILL is a leading CAM software with emphasis in high-end milling applications.  The software includes a broad set of 5-axis cutter paths strategies that include collision detection and collision avoidance, as well as dedicated solutions for vertical markets including multi-blade turbomachinery, single-blade turbomachinery, tube milling for cylinder head porting and other similar shapes, tire mold and dental applications.  This technology sits on a coherent foundation of 2-axis through 5-axis solutions plus mill-turn support.  The software is supported by native NC postprocessors that are robust and take advantage of available machine control functions.

Also featured in the webinar will be Chris Taylor, co-founder of Fifth Axis Inc and Fifth Axis Fixtures.  Chris will discuss his business growth using hyperMILL as an integrated CAM software.  He will also discuss their innovative line of work-holding fixtures that were designed in SolidWorks and machined with hyperMILL for SolidWorks.

“The hyperMILL for SolidWorks product has been a very nice addition to our product suite.  Some customers make quite complex parts like impellers and aerospace structural components or large spiral bevel gears used in renewable power applications, directly in the SolidWorks environment.  Learning times are shortened due to the integration in SolidWorks and customers are happy”, states Alan Levine, Managing Director of OPEN MIND Technologies USA, Inc.
