NJVC Releases Two New White Papers that Outline How to Build a Successful Federal Agency Cloud Roadmap and the Economic Benefits of Cloud Computing

Papers Authored by Kevin Jackson, NJVC General Manager, Cloud Services

VIENNA, Va. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 29, 2011NJVC®, one of the largest information technology (IT) solutions providers supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, released two white papers on cloud computing: “ Overview: Implementation of Cloud Computing Solutions in Federal Agencies” and “ The Economic Benefit of Cloud Computing.” The papers were authored by Kevin Jackson, general manager, cloud services, and are available for download at www.njvc.com.

The white papers are written for the audience of federal government executives interested in learning more about cloud computing and its benefits. “Overview: Implementation of Cloud Computing Solutions in Federal Agencies” provides introductory information on cloud computing (a new approach in the provisioning and consumption of IT), the reasons why the government and Obama administration are embracing cloud as a viable means to help reduce the federal budget (“cloud-first policy”), the benefits of cloud computing (particularly for intelligence and defense agencies) and guidelines for the development and execution of an agency cloud roadmap. The white paper also offers several examples of successful cloud implementations in federal agencies.

“The Economic Benefit of Cloud Computing” answers the question: How can cloud solutions lead to reduced IT infrastructure costs? These savings can be achieved through resource pooling or the ability of a cloud provider to serve multiple customers using a multi-tenant model with different physical and virtual resources dynamically assigned and reassigned according to demand. In addition to reducing expenses, proper cloud deployment can provide better IT services, a higher level of IT infrastructure reliability and data availability and myriad other benefits.

Jackson heads the new NJVC cloud services business unit, and joined the company in 2010 as engineering fellow. A prolific blogger and book author on cloud computing who was recently named one of the “Most Powerful Voices in Security” by SYS-CON MEDIA, Jackson will moderate the GEOINT 2011 Symposium panel, “ Cloud Computing and the Intelligence Mission,on October 19 in San Antonio.
