MSC Software Helps Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Accelerate R&D Competitiveness

SANTA ANA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 12, 2011 -- MSC Software Corporation, the leader in multidiscipline simulation solutions that accelerate product innovation, today announced that Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company, Ltd. selected MD Nastran, MSC Adams, and MSC Easy5 as its Computer-Aided-Engineering (CAE) technology platform for automobile research & development (R&D).

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company is the first automobile joint venture in China between Dongfeng Automobile Company, Ltd. (DFAC) and PSA Peugeot Citroen. The company has two large manufacturing plants able to produce 450,000 complete vehicles and 40,000 engines and automatic transmissions per year. Its 3rd production factory will be established this year.

With the changes in Chinese national strategy, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company was asked to provide automobile technology solutions, including automobile design, performance benchmarking, and advanced manufacturing. This made it a top priority for the company to create independent brands and establish local design and manufacturing.

After evaluating many CAE technologies, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company selected MSC Software's solutions including MD Nastran, Adams, and Easy5 as its main CAE platform for automobile R&D. By applying MSC's solutions, the company is able to perform automobile NVH performance calculations, complete automobile dynamic analysis and joint mechanical and electronic simulation. It has also allowed them to build technology competitiveness with more independent research and development activities inside the company.
