2011 Cityworks User Conference Proves Tremendous Success

GIS-Centric Industry Professionals Exchange Valuable Knowledge and Experience at Event

May 19, 2011 -- Sandy, UT — More than 400 attendees from around the world gathered at the 2011 Cityworks User Conference this week at the Dixie Center in St. George, Utah, hosted by Cityworks | Azteca Systems, the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions.  With unprecedented knowledge shared and important relationships formed and built upon, the conference was a great success and highly acclaimed by everyone involved.

“My experience at the 2011 Cityworks User Conference was fantastic,” stated Thierno Ndao, Developer-Database Administrator at the City of Racine, Cityworks Server AMS and PLL user.  “I’ve learned a lot of very practical things I can directly put to use.  Moreover, I can take the knowledge I gained back home and present it to City officials to further illustrate all that Cityworks can do.   The conference was a terrific experience and I already look forward to next year’s event.”

The conference began Monday morning in a unique setting featuring a more relaxed venue where attendees were encouraged to be comfortable, plugged-in and connected with Cityworks staff and colleagues back home.  President and CEO Brian Haslam welcomed the group and gave an overview of Cityworks trends and public asset management.  New Cityworks 2011 Server AMS and PLL functionality was presented while a few of Azteca’s key software developers showcased new and exciting solution functions.  The session continued with discussions on community engagement and utilizing Cityworks on popular mobile platforms.  The afternoon session included a more detailed look into Cityworks 2011 and plans for Cityworks 2012.

The plenary session adjourned and attendees proceeded to the User Appreciation social held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club, nestled amid scenic red rock vista landscape.  The event included a 3-putt charity challenge to raise money for the Trichotillomania Learning Center and a men’s and women’s long shot driving contest.

The remaining two days of conference were filled with Cityworks user and partner presentations featuring topics such as:

Over twenty exhibitors showcased their services and solutions in the exhibit hall and were readily available to answer questions and discuss solutions.  Over sixty members of Cityworks| Azteca staff were present at the conference hosting and attending sessions, answering questions in the Doctor’s Office, and meeting with clients.

New this year: the Cityworks Store; Expresso Technical Sessions; live, interactive text feedback, the 5k run/walk, and a Cityworks Crystal Reports competition.  The conference concluded with the traditional Meet the Developers session and User Feedback Luncheon.  Plans for the 2012 Cityworks User Conference are already underway.
