Navagis Announces MobileRecon App for Situational Awareness

August 05, 2010 -- Jackson, MS -- Navagis is proud to announce the MobileRecon application for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. MobileRecon is a revolutionary tool based on the need for information awareness across all levels of an organization. MobileRecon works seamlessly to deliver geo-located and time-stamped video, audio, photographs, text, and data from the field directly onto your Google Earth Enterprise Server. In addition, user generated maps and live asset tracking can be displayed on the server and the smart phone simultaneously with Google Maps. MobileRecon gives a technological advantage to businesses, government, and other organizations by providing a seamlessly interconnected information sharing work force: the front-line employee experience is now immediately transferred to decision makers in real-time through a Wi-Fi or cellular network and visualized on the intuitive Google Earth platform.

MobileRecon promotes situational awareness to all levels of an organization by easily facilitating information sharing. By promoting information gathering on the field operator level, decision makers have uninhibited access to the raw data collected on the front-line. Management can be alerted to a situation with geo-referenced media, make an informed decision, and then quickly direct others and disseminate all necessary information, without the need of a GIS specialist.

Whether they are soldiers or engineers, operators are now able to easily review their missions through photographs, maps, and other data. All collected information can be visualized as points and larger trends can be understood through the widely used interface of Google Earth (over 500 million downloads and 200 million users). With the combination of MobileRecon and Google Earth Enterprise deployed across your organization, command and control has evolved into a new level of total situational awareness.

The Google Earth Enterprise Server can reside on a mobile command station to receive and broadcast critical geospatial information such as other users’ locations, weather reports, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) video, or live tracking of critical assets. The Google Earth Enterprise Server is able to send updates and information from other devices and sources and display it on the MobileRecon client device via Google Maps. The MobileRecon client device will send information (pictures, video, audio, text notes) that is automatically time-stamped and geo-referenced through a Wi-Fi or cellular network back to the Google Earth Enterprise Server. Additionally, with smart phones running advanced versions of the Android operating system, a group of smart phones can work as a Wi-Fi chain back to the Google Earth Enterprise Server. In severe disaster situations with no network access, MobileRecon will automatically update all geo-referenced data as network access becomes available.

MobileRecon builds on Navagis’ extensive expertise of Google Earth Enterprise in commercial, government, and military applications. MobileRecon is just one example of the diverse applications that are possible with Google Earth Enterprise’s completely customizable and open platform. MobileRecon is compatible with Google Earth Enterprise Server Professional, Google Earth Enterprise Portable, and Google Earth Enterprise Hosted Solutions through Navagis.
