TheAlleghenies.com Adds a Google Maps Feature

ALTOONA, Pa., July 21 — (PRNewswire) — The Alleghenies is enhancing the outdoor recreation user experience this summer through a new Google Maps application. This feature allows users to share comments and images on specific trails and experiences in the region.

The Google Maps feature provides users with a regional map of The Alleghenies that can be overlaid with their favorite activities (by color-coded markers) including hiking, on- and off- road cycling, rails to trails, ATV/dirtbiking, motor touring, water activities, birding and winter activities. By rolling over a color-coded marker, users can view comments and images posted by other enthusiasts. Users can also post their own thoughts, experiences and recommendations including scenic overlooks, wildlife spotted, great fishing holes, epic singletrack, favorite trails…the possibilities are endless. Links are provided to allow users to share information through their social media networks.

"We wanted to further engage TheAlleghenies.com users by creating more opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to share their thoughts on the region," said Adrienne Eichenlaub, Regional Tourism Program Manager. "Incorporating social media channels gives outdoor enthusiasts even more options to learn about the region and its wealth of resources."
