WeoGeo Newsletter - February 2010 Edition

WeoGeo

WeoGeo now supports vector files along with our raster datasets. You can customize them just like you can the raster ones by clipping and transforming into new projections and file formats.

We are of course very excited about our vector support and we hope to continue enhancing our product in the next year with many more formats and transformations.

The  WeoApp will now assist you in uploading both vector and raster datasets.  Check it out!

Latest Releases:
WeoGeo is now at release 2.0.10 for Library and Market. You can read the  full release notes on our wiki. Some highlights:
  • Free Library Tier: You can now try out the WeoGeo Library for free as long as you like.
  • Human readable urls for datasets.  In addition to the  Static URIs with the token, a more readable URL can be used.
  • Vector datasets can now be downloaded as CSV in addition to ESRI Shapefile and MapInfo TAB. This gives non-GIS users the ability to consume your datasets.
  • GeoRSS Feeds support is now improved.  Just provide an area of interest and you can get alerts to new datasets being uploaded to either library or market.
  • Dataset names are no longer limited to 10 chars - the new limit is up to 20 chars.
For more details, please  check out the release notes.

WeoGeo Developer Support
Did you know that WeoGeo has detailed documentation of all our open RESTful APIs? Our  Third Party Developer Documentation section has everything you need to know how to upload datasets to the WeoGeo Library as well as how to use the APIs to browse and order datasets.

Make Sure Your WeoApp is Current
With many changes to our APIs and service, you may want to make sure you have the latest version of the WeoApp.  Currently we have disabled auto-update to resolve some conflicts with Appliances, but you can always perform this check yourself:

At the command line type "weoapp -v" and if it returns 0.6.1 you are on the latest release.  If not please go to our  WeoApp download site and grab the latest version.
