Sandvik Receives the 2016 Manufacturing Leadership 100 Award

Supply Chain Transformation Project Leads to 300 Percent Improvement in Forecast Accuracy

ATLANTA — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 20, 2016 — Logility, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative supply chain optimization and advanced retail planning solutions, congratulates Sandvik Mining and Construction on being named a recipient of the Manufacturing Executive 2016 Manufacturing Leadership 100 Award (ML 100). Sandvik Mining and Construction was recognized for its outstanding achievements in the Supply Chain Leadership category. Winners in this category have undertaken efforts to revamp and optimize their supply chain and related processes, with a focus on accelerating new product introductions and delivering maximum value to customers.

The ML100, presented by Manufacturing Executive and in its 12th year, honors manufacturing companies and individual manufacturing leaders who help shape the future of global manufacturing. The ML100 judges evaluated nominations on the following four criteria: process impact, business impact, strategic impact, and use of technology. In addition, the judges based their selection on projects which have helped set each company apart from the competition, delivered a clear and compelling return on investment, and have rethought and reengineered how they source, produce, and deliver products to customers in dynamic global markets.

“Winners of the 2016 ML Awards have proven that they are at the forefront of a global, technology-driven transformation that we call Manufacturing 4.0,” said David R. Brousell, global vice president and editorial director of the Manufacturing Leadership Council. “By relentlessly improving and digitizing every corner of their operations, these outstanding leaders are not only delivering greater value to customers, they are redefining excellence in the manufacturing industry. We congratulate them.”

Sandvik Mining and Construction, a global manufacturer with operations in more than 130 countries, embarked on a supply chain transformation initiative across its network of manufacturing facilities and world-wide distribution. For Sandvik, the supply chain encompasses a large portion of the company including sourcing of direct material; manufacturing of tools, warehouses; inventory management; and distribution management. Identifying the need for more advanced demand planning, inventory management and supply planning, Sandvik Mining and Construction turned to Logility Voyager Solutions™ as the foundation for the company’s supply chain initiative.

With Logility Voyager Solutions in place, decisions are driven by consistent, fact-based data that has helped Sandvik achieve several operational improvements including a 300 percent improvement in forecast accuracy, a 20 percent reduction in Days in Inventory and an 8-point increase in service level. In a capital intensive business such as Sandvik’s, these translate into large financial savings and gains for the company.

“Sandvik Mining and Construction operates a highly complex, global supply chain where customer service is a top priority,” said Allan Dow, president, Logility. “The supply chain organization at Sandvik has achieved industry-leading status in their ability to ensure high quality products are available when and where their customers need them. We congratulate the team at Sandvik and are proud to be their supply chain planning partner.”
