Leica Geosystems releases new software capabilities for web-based collaboration using digital reality capture data

Leica TruView Global now supports a multi-community environment across the office, across the project, across the globe.

Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 08 June, 2016 - Leica Geosystems, global leader of measurement and reality capture technologies, today released TruView Global 2.0. The easy-to-use software integrating point cloud, 3D model and panoramic imagery now supports multiple communities of users from a single installation, bringing even greater efficiency to the office and on the jobsite.

Leica TruView Global allows easy access and navigation of 3D point clouds and related project data, not only for engineers but also for project personnel without any 3D software access or experience. The intuitive panoramic viewer does not require the download of plugins or other software. The portal is accessible from any web-enabled device, such as personal computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Multi-tenant portal with advanced user rights control

The introduction of TruView Global 2.0 provides complete data security and privacy for different user groups. Organisations only need to install and maintain one master server which allows several communities of users on diverse projects securely separated.

Paul Olszewski, owner of PJO Surveying, is seeing his land surveying and laser scanning services firm transform with TruView Global. By providing coordinated and measurable panoramic scan data, PJO Surveying’s clients can intuitively view and extract information for easier and more efficient operations.

“The new multi-portal capability of TruView Global allows us to continue to work with multiple high-profile firms all over the country, keeping project data at their fingertips, while keeping each firms' data secure and isolated with one simple installation on our end,” said Olszewski. “The high-accessibility of TruView Global data allows our clients to minimise their field trips while offering better designs by being better informed about the project. It’s always one click away. And our clients are now extending the benefits to their subcontractors, providing information on hard-to-reach sites to potential bidders, driving more accurate bids and better project cost management for them, and new avenues of growth and profit for us.”

Communication in closed user groups

TruView Global extends the benefit and functionality of the TruView experience via its global, professional and secure portals. It delivers point cloud data from a vast array of sensors, such as Leica Geosystems’ High Definition Surveying 3D scanners, mobile mapping platforms like Leica Pegasus:Two, Pegasus:Backpack, and supports an open platform for all other 3D scanners in the industry, including hand-held 3D sensors and even UAVs. TruView Global also supports the integration of 3D CAD/GIS data for even more efficient project review workflows. Coupled with Leica Geosystems’ professional API/SDK, which allows partner organisations to extend or integrate TruView Global’s functionality, TruView data provides the most robust and accessible web-delivered, sharable source of scan data.
