2D to 3D Conversion of "TITANIC" to be Featured in Creative Master Series at 2012 NAB Show in Las Vegas

Marquee Session with Jon Landau, Academy Award® Winning Producer of TITANIC, and William Sherak, President of Stereo D.

BURBANK, Calif., April 13, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — Jon Landau, Academy Award® winning Producer of TITANIC, and William Sherak, President of Stereo D, will share with 2012 NAB Show attendees on Monday, April 16, how the 2D to 3D conversion of TITANIC was achieved.

Stereo D, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group Inc., was the vendor of choice for director James Cameron and producer Jon Landau after seeing early tests from Stereo D suggesting that Cameron's high hopes for the conversion could be met.  Cameron collaborated closely with Stereo D's founder William Sherak to inspire the team of artists at Stereo D to sculpt the original photography into 3-dimensional images full of depth and scope.

For the filmmakers, that meant never settling for images that were good enough.  The process required time, but more than that, it required inspired artistry.  "It takes true artists to do this work," Sherak explains.  "Every frame had to be looked at as a piece of art and it takes a creative vision to see how we're going to add depth to that frame."

Along with bringing together an experienced team of 450 artists, the 2D to 3D conversion technology developed by Stereo D made it possible to meet the demanding 60-week schedule for the re-release of TITANIC in 3D on April 4.

Rob Legato, Academy Award® winner for best visual effects on HUGO and TITANIC, will moderate Monday's session,  "Titanic to 3D:  279,360 Frames," from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m., in the Convention Center South Hall.

NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums.
