Alchemy Solutions Sets European Workshops to Help Enterprises Considering Modernising, Migrating Mainframe Applications

First Workshops Scheduled for Amsterdam, Stockholm, and Milan

BEND, Oregon – 22 March 2010 – Alchemy Solutions today announced the first three workshops in a series designed to inform European enterprises about modernising mainframe applications, and prepare them to evaluate whether to migrate to more cost-effective platforms. A provider of legacy modernisation solutions for the Microsoft .NET Framework, Alchemy Solutions will be conducting the mainframe modernisation workshops in conjunction with Microsoft and local partners including Systemation (Amsterdam), EDB (Stockholm) and BizLogica (Milan).

The first three workshops have been scheduled for Amsterdam (March 30), Stockholm (April 22), and Milan (date to be announced).

Attendees can expect to take away from these events ideas for a range of options most suitable for their own situations, including:
- moving off the mainframe to another platform,
- continuing forward secure in the knowledge that the mainframe is the right platform for their situation and organisation, or
- choosing an approach that may be somewhere in between.

Presentations will include first-hand customer experiences as well as technology overviews from Alchemy Solutions, Microsoft, and local partners. Alchemy Solutions will share the results of its latest research on the state of the mainframe migration market, including who is moving off the mainframe, and who is staying; best practices of those who are making it work; challenges to be overcome; and benefits realised.

“We designed these events with customers’ needs in mind. In fact, much of the information will be provided from the first-hand experience of companies from each local market,” said Ron Langer, general manager, Alchemy Solutions. “The examples will provide lasting value to all attendees, no matter where they are in the decision process for modernizing and migrating mainframe applications.”

“Enterprises around the world are realising that their core mission critical applications can run efficiently and effectively on .NET,” said Bob Ellsworth, director of enterprise platform modernisation for Microsoft. “Among the takeaway benefits, attendees will understand the production readiness of .NET to handle mission critical applications, including the scalability, reliability and maintainability of this proven platform.”

Additional workshop locations will be announced in coming weeks. Participants can register for these events using the following links: Amsterdam (March 30), Stockholm (April 22), and Milan (date to be announced).
